Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born on the 12th of November, 1961, in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onestiin Gheorghe Gheorghiu dej, now Onesti Romania). She was first to be the first athlete to get a perfect 10 in an Olympic ceremony. Comaneci was discovered by Bela Karolyi later the Romanian gymnastics coach at the time she was just six years old. In 1969, she competed at the Romanian Junior Championships and placed 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. In 1972, as part of the communist nations' meet for juniors before the Olympics, she took home three gold awards. And in 1973, and '74 she was the junior champion in all aspects. She won against Russian Lyudmila Torishcheva. She was a five-time European Champion, in her debut senior international competition held in 1975. In the event, she took home four golds as well as a silver. In 1976, she became the first female to do the reverse double salo of the uneven parallel bar as part of her dismount.
